IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

It is important for you and your student to understand the following policies before testing:

■ Electronic Devices—If your student is found with ANY electronic devices during testing, his or her test will be invalidated, meaning it will not be scored. We encourage students to leave devices at home or in their lockers on the day of testing.

■ Academic Honesty—Your student will be asked to sign a pledge prior to testing that says I agree that I will not give or receive unauthorized help during this test. I understand that giving or receiving such help during the test is cheating and will result in the invalidation of my test results.  Inaddition, students are responsible for protecting their answers from being seen by others. If students are caught cheating during testing, their tests will be invalidated.

■ Invalidations After Testing—The FDOE employs a test security company, Caveon Test Security, to analyze student test results to detect unusually similar answer patterns. Student results within a school that are found by Caveon to have extremely similar answer patterns will be invalidated.

■ Leaving Campus—If your student leaves campus before completing the test (for lunch, an appointment, or illness, etc.), he or she WILL NOT be allowed to complete the test. If your student does not feel well on the day of testing, it may be best for him or her to wait and be tested on a make-up day. Please also be mindful to not schedule appointments on testing days.

If you have any questions related to this test administration, you may contact Beverley Rogers at 487-2279. For more information about the statewide assessment program, visit the FDOE website at http://fcat.fldoe.org/

Thank you for supporting your student as he/she prepares for testing.

Sincerely,

Allen Burch

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that the school year is ending and we are less than two weeks away from our Graduation ceremony.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing Lincoln High School to be a part of your child’s education.  This year’s graduating class has excelled in a number of areas, and has raised the bar for excellence at Lincoln.  They are joining a strong alumni group and I know they will continue to represent Lincoln High School in a positive manner as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.

There are several important dates approaching for your graduating senior.  This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are final exam days for seniors.  Seniors are exempt from their final exams if they receive a grade higher than an “F” for the 4th 9 weeks.  In this case, the 3rd and 4th 9 weeks grades are averaged to determine the semester grade.  Any senior who receives an “F” for their 4th 9 weeks grade or has an attendance failure for the 4th 9 weeks will be required to take a final exam.  Dr. Crump, our Assistant Principal of Attendance and our teachers have had conversations with seniors who are in this situation.

Please make sure that all attendance be verified and finalized by this Friday, May 18. If you have specific questions regarding your child’s attendance, please visit the attendance office. Notices of absences must be received by this Friday in order for your child’s attendance to be accepted as excused for this 9 week period.

We are asking that seniors please return their textbooks this week, before May 21st, in order to ensure they receive their diploma on time.  Any senior who has lost textbooks or fees must have these obligations cleared before May 25th.  If obligations are not cleared by this date, student diplomas may be withheld.  Students have received their obligation notices throughout the semester in order to avoid any confusion on Graduation.

In order to make our graduation ceremonies as successful as possible, we ask our seniors to participate in several mandatory events.  Monday, May 21st is our Convocation rehearsal and ceremony.  Our rehearsal will be held on campus and we are asking our seniors to arrive to school at their regular time for their first period class.

When our rehearsal ends, however, at 10:30, we are asking all seniors to leave campus.  There will be a celebration lunch in Tom Brown Park, but our seniors’ school day will officially end at 10:30 and they will not be allowed to disrupt our regularly scheduled classes.
Convocation will be held at the Civic Center May 21st at 6:30 pm and we ask our seniors to arrive no later than 6:00.  Seniors will also need to participate in our graduation rehearsal, which will take place at the Civic Center May 30th.  All of these dates and times are available on our school website.

Once again thank you for allowing Lincoln High School to be a part of your child’s education.  I am so proud of this graduating class and cannot wait to shake their hands as they walk across the stage.  As always, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Allen Burch
